The purposes of First Aid at Work (FAW) are the preservation of life, minimising the consequences of injury or illness and the treatment of minor injuries.
Course Content:
- Principles and priorities of 1st Aid
- Examination and treatment of unconscious casualty and resuscitation
- Treatment of injuries – control of bleeding, choking, scalds and burns, eye contamination, poisoning, shock, common illnesses
- Personal hygiene and infection control
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Medical emergencies
- Joint and limb injuries – immobilization & transportation
- Respiration and circulatory problems
- 1st Aid box
- Accident and injury recording and reporting
Objectives:
The objective is to ensure employers have made the appropriate arrangements for workers who are injured or taken ill at work to receive immediate attention and that an ambulance is called in serious cases
Certification:
After successful completion of the course and examination a certificate valid for three years is then issued.
