A 1 day course for a person to obtain a certificate of basic training after successfully completing the practical and theoretical assessment
Requirements:
Those attending should be equipped with the necessary PPE (sturdy footwear, hard hat and high visibility jackets)
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course the operator will be able to demonstrate how to operate an overhead crane correctly and safely, taking care and consideration for him/herself and the people in and around the working area.
They will have demonstrated their practical ability of how to use an overhead crane, carried out a pre use inspection and successfully completed a theory paper.

- Introduction to the courseLegal responsibilities
- The job of a Slinger
- The Safe working loads Lifting Equipment
- Working with power hoists and overhead cranes
- Method of slinging unbalanced loads
Method Of Delivery:
Within a normal work area the trainer will demonstrate safe practice and together with the trainee will discuss and lift a range of work normally expected of the trainee. The trainee needs to demonstrate his/her competence with the crane operation and will lift a range of work provided
