An Administration Apprentice is required by Moorhouse Primary School.

To be responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative and/or customer service support to respond to service specific needs including:
  • Postal duties
  • Photocopying and collating documents
  • Taking telephone messages Inputting data onto computer systems
  • Using IT packages for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Dealing with customer requirements in a courteous and professional manner, taking advice from the School Business Manager when appropriate
  • To undertake basic bookkeeping, collect monies and accurately record and balance funds.
  • Examples may include the school fund, petty cash, school trips/events, photographs, postage, meals etc
  • To welcome visitors to the school, ensuing that health and safety and safeguarding procedures are followed, including ensuring visitors sign in and out using the electronic system and escorting visitors as required
  • To be familiar with a range of IT systems
  • To ensure effective use of office equipment and machinery and to make use of such facilities
  • To undertake word processing and other administrative/customer service work as required
  • To keep up with Apprenticeship requirements assigned by training provider including meetings with the provider
  • To undertake research and collate information as directed by the School Business Manager and Headteacher
  • To train with and shadow the Administration team to obtain experience of the various Administrative functions within Moorhouse Primary School and the scope of work
  • To provide assistance to colleagues in allocated areas as and when appropriate
Secondary Duties:

  • To participate in relevant in-service training courses
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as determined by School Business Manager or Headteacher
  • To assist when required in activities to promote and publicise apprenticeships within the council Maintain a daily record of tasks performed in the form of a diary to show personal progress
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the Principal Manager (or nominated representative) in consultation with the apprentice and if she/he wishes with his/her trade union representative

  • Minimum x 5 GCSE’s  or equivalent (minimum Grade C/4) including English and maths
  • Experience of using computers either at home, work or school to be able to produce letters and other documents and carry out basic operations using e-mail, spreadsheets and databases

Based at Moorhouse Primary School, Rochdale. All applications must be made through Apprenticeship vacancies. APPRENTICE LA Grade – 18 month contract – 12 months at £9000 FTE, remaining 6 months @NMW for age. 37 hours per week. Term Time Only An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate and any offer of employment will depend upon the results. The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2018 the ANMW was set at £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
