Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients, in person or via the telephone.

Vacancy description
General Reception duties, ensuring a friendly greeting to all Patients and Visitors to the Surgery
To answer the telephone courteously and in accordance to the practice charter i.e within 6 rings
Distributing patient records and appropriate forms to the doctors/practice nurses and other health care professionals for the surgery
Dealing with emails and correspondence
Inputting, recording and updating
Patient information Assisting and supporting the office team with their duties as required
Filing and extracting records and documents required in the day to day running of the surgery
Book patients hospital appointments via the computer system
Making appointments through the EMIS computer system and manually
Ordering ambulances for the patients when required Communication with other staff members, to ensure smooth shift changeovers and that there is a constant flow of communication throughout the surgery opening times
To generate prescriptions on the computer after training
Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines
Handling completed repeat prescriptions to patients; checking names and address and ensuring that all pages have been signed by a doctor
All reception and admin duties associated with a busy medical centre

Qualifications required Educated to a good GCSE standard (A-C).
In house training on the practice clinical system will be provided
