Rochdale Council's Revenues and Benefits Office are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Business Admin Apprentice to join their team.

Apprentices will be assigned to the Assessment and Benefits Team but will also perform duties across the Revenues & Benefits Service, the principal duties of which are:

  • To scan and index documentation to the document management system.  
  • Data entry and data retrieval from computer systems within Revenues & Benefits relating to Revenues & Benefits work.     Using IT packages for word processing, spread sheet and database applications including MS Word and Excel.
  • Supporting colleagues in the service in periods of high demand.
  • General administrative support duties.
  • Using e-mail to receive and distribute data and messages using MS Outlook.
  • Dealing with customer telephone and e-mail enquiries in a courteous and professional manner, taking guidance and advice from Team Leaders and team officers when appropriate.
  • Attending appropriate training to achieve the agreed Apprenticeship standard.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by Operations Managers and/or Team Leaders.

Desired skills

  • You must have worked as part of a team.
  • You must have experience of using computers at home, work, college or school and have used spread sheets and databases.

Personal qualities

  • You must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • You must be committed to acquiring new skills relevant to the post and attending relevant training courses
  • Able to work as part of a team

Desired qualifications
  • You must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent (including English and Maths).

The post is for 18 months, £9000 per annum for the first 12 months, NMW for the remaining 6 months Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for £3.70 (from 1st April 2018) per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies
