Principal Tasks to be undertaken  

To be responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative and/or customer service support to respond to service specific needs including: -

  • Postal duties
  • Photocopying and collating documents
  • Taking telephone messages
  • Inputting data onto computer systems
  • Using IT packages for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Dealing with customer requirements in a courteous and professional manner, taking advice from the School Business Manager when appropriate
  • To undertake basic bookkeeping, collect monies and accurately record and balance funds.
  • Examples may include the school fund, petty cash, school trips/events, photographs, postage, meals etc
  • To welcome visitors to the school, ensuing that health and safety and safeguarding procedures are followed, including ensuring visitors sign in and out using the electronic system and escorting visitors as required.  
  • To be familiar with a range of IT systems.  
  • To ensure effective use of office equipment and machinery and to make use of such facilities  
  • To undertake word processing and other administrative/customer service work as required.  
  • To keep up with Apprenticeship requirements assigned by training provider including meetings with the provider.  
  • To undertake research and collate information as directed by the School Business Manager and Head teacher  
  • To train with and shadow the Administration team to obtain experience of the various Administrative functions  
  • To provide assistance to colleagues in allocated areas as and when appropriate.  
  • Secondary Tasks  
  • To participate in relevant in-service training courses.  
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as determined by School Business Manager or Head teacher.  
  • Maintain a daily record of tasks performed in the form of a diary to show personal progress  

Desired skills

  • Completed a broad education that includes GCSE Grade C and above in English Language.
  • Basic and proficient experience of using a computer (Especially Word, Excel and Email)
  • Have an eye for detail and be accurate
  • Clear use of written English with accurate spelling and grammar.
  • Able to set up spread sheets and keep basic accounts.
  • Able to work in a team (i.e. readily offer assistance to others)
  • Demonstrate a personality that supports working within an environment with young children

  • £9000 PA, for the first 12 months, NMW for the remaining 6 months, pro rata to term time only
