Business Administrative Apprentice to be based at Springside School. To be responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative duties;

  • Photocopying and collating documents
  • Undertaking reception duties and taking telephone messages
  • Escorting visitors through school
  • Inputting data onto computer systems e.g. SIMS
  • Using IT packages for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Welcoming visitors to the school
  • Being responsible for the collection and balancing of dinner monies
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
  • To distribute letters and messages to classrooms
  • To receive orders and assist with checking and distribution
  • To assist with the administration of the Annual Review Process
  • To undertake a development programme (both on and off site) including participation in required training and learning leading to a Business Administration Apprenticeship

Secondary duties:

  • To be familiar with a range of IT systems
  • To ensure the effective use of office equipment and machinery and to make use of such facilities
  • Preparing refreshments for meetings (tea, coffee and biscuits)
  • To undertake word processing and other administrative work as required
  • To assist with minute taking when required
  • To participate in council programmes of in-service training
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the Head teacher and School Business Manager in consultation with the apprentice and if she/he wishes with her/his trade union representative

Things to consider

  • There is a need for an 08.00am start for this role
  • Need to follow safeguarding procedures at all times
  • Holidays may only be taken within the designated school holidays and NOT during term time - no further leave will be given
  • A September start is planned
  • 32.5 hours per week and term time only


The post is for 18 months, £9000.00 for the first 12 months (prorata), the final 6 months at NMW. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for £3.70 (from 1st April 2018) per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
