Rochdale Council are looking to recruit two Business Admin Apprentices within the Governance Team, the team who look after the elected councillors, school appeals and elections. Would suit someone who has an interest in politics or local issues. 

Principal Duties

To develop skills and knowledge that will provide effective and efficient administrative support to the team in the following areas:

  • School appeals administration
  • Charity administration
  • Electoral Registration and Elections Financial Administration
  • Support for elected members
  • Committee administration
  • To work effectively within the Governance Team liaising appropriately with others, meeting deadlines, following supervisor’s instructions
  • To communicate effectively using telephone, e-mail, in writing and face to face following Council procedures, which may at times include the greeting and receiving of service users
  • To use computer systems effectively to produce documents as required by the work placement area for example Excel, Word and Outlook, including the management of room bookings, and the updating of employee’s whereabouts
  • To use office equipment effectively such as multi-functional devises, telephone systems, computer equipment; collate and record information accurately, in accordance with procedures
  • Where appropriate following financial procedures at all times
  • To assist with the ordering and distributing of stationery items, carrying out stock checks where appropriate

Desired qualifications

  • Have a minimum of Grade C/4 GCSE, or equivalent, in English and Maths.

  • The post is for 18 months with t £9000.00 per annum for the first 12 months and the NMW for the remaining 6 months.
