Vacancy description

Starting in the summer therefore ideal for school leavers. The engineering team at Renolds Gears are looking for a number of Apprentices to join its Engineering department in various roles:

Job Role 1: Manual turner – Variation of turning work on manual machines, this is a very busy area of manufacturing and a skill the company need for continuity and future growth

Job Role 2: Gear cutting x 2 – a process very specific to Renold Gears involving cutting the teeth of the worm & Helical wheels. Machines are specific to this industry and there is a lot of technical aspects to how the gears are produced. Machines are a mixture of manual and CNC.

Job Role 3: Assembly Fitter – Would be part of a team that assemble gear boxes. These can range from standard gear boxes to bespoke units that are complex and unique builds.

As an apprentice with Renold Gears you’ll be part of an organisation that is committed to supporting you through a career pathway which will allow you to earn a salary while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
Renold also support other further education specific to successor planning.
Successful completion of year one of the Apprenticeship programme could see candidates progress to a full time positions and progress onto the next level of Apprenticeship. 4 year apprenticship then potentially a full time contract as a skilled employee

Desired qualifications

  • English and Maths at Grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent)
  • You will be required to attend Rochdale Training to take our aptitude assessment before your application is progressed

  • Progression onto Level 3 and full support to move into more senior positions.

Things to consider

  • Part of your training will take place at Rochdale Training (OL16 5NA). Therefore you will need to be able to travel to our site.
