As an apprentice with Holroyd Precision Ltrd (PTG Group) you’ll be part of an organisation who are committed to supporting you through a career which will allow you to earn a salary while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. PTG is a global engineering company specialising in the manufacture of grinding and milling machines and precision components.

The Apprenticeship programme usually takes between three to four years to complete depending on how quickly the learning framework is completed.    

For the first 12 months you will be based at Rochdale Training Association, full-time, learning foundation engineering.  Then years’ two to four are spent in the workplace (Milnrow), progressing through different departments learning new skills and gaining practical on-the-job experience.

During year two, in addition to your NVQ studies, you will attend day release to gain a BTEC National Engineering qualification.     

For those Apprentices that show academic drive and achievement, the Company may fund a further Higher National Certificate Diploma (HNC) that is providing they have gained excellent study grades and shown good workplace performance.

Completion of the Apprenticeship Programme could see successful candidates progress to a permanent position within the PTG Group. These roles include:

  • Machine Tool fitter
  • Electrical Fitter
  • CNC Machine Operator
  • CMM Inspector
  • Maintenance Engineer

Desired qualifications

  • You should have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent, at grade C or above, including Math and English. 

Future prospects

Completion of the Apprenticeship programme could see successful candidates progress to a full time position within the PTG Group in a wide range of roles (subject to availability), including, but not limited to: Machine Tool Fitter, CNC Machine Operator, Manual Machine Operator, Electrician, CMM Inspector, CAD Technician
