Rochdale Training are looking for 18-24 year olds to join an exciting Healthcare traineeship in May. The 12 week course will offer training, work placement and the chance to become employed with organisations like the NHS!

A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience . At its core are work preparation training, English and Maths for those who need it and a high quality work experience placement. This traineeship not only focuses on the care sector, but also focuses on several roles within the sector.

Work placement

·         Rochdale Training is working with several Health and Social Care based employers to offer a quality Traineeship programme for residents aged 18-24. The main employer is Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Employers are at the centre of Traineeships to ensure they give you the skills you need to secure a job and succeed in employment
  • All candidates will complete a work placement and be offered an interview at the end of the 12 weeks

The placement positions include,

  • Care role supporting school nurses
  • Domestic roles in Birch Hill Hospital
  • Care role supporting mobility clinic
  • Admin supporting mobility clinic

Training to be provided

 The level 1 Certificate in Working in the Healthcare, Adult Care & Child Care sectors will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s sectors. It includes the roles played by workers, from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others. There is the option to take units in more specialised areas such as learning disability, sensory loss or mental health.

  • 100 hours work experience.
  • Traineeship over 12 weeks.
  • Employers rights and responsibilities.
  • Functional skills (if required)
  • Pastoral Care Courses such as Safeguarding and Equality & Diversity.
  • Aspects of Health and Safety.

·         L1 C&G Certificate in Working in the Healthcare, Adult Care & Child Care sectors

Future prospects

You’ll gain a Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, and complete a work experience placement with a local employer in the care sector.


The qualification:

• is aimed at learners who wish to develop an understanding of these settings before deciding whether working in the sector is for them
• allows learners to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment and/or career progression in the sectors
• allows learners to tailor their learning to their interests through the provision of a broad range of optional units
• provides opportunities for the development of transferable skills
• supports progression to Level 2 qualifications in health, social care or children's settings
• provides learners with the opportunity to progress to employment, in due course, in a range of job roles in the care sectors.

About traineeships

A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can last up to 6 months.
You can apply if you’re:

  • eligible to work in England
  • unemployed and have little or no work experience
  • aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 3

You’ll get:

  • a work experience placement
  • help with English and maths (if you need it)

You won’t be paid, but you may be given expenses for things like travel and meals.
