Safe Use and Pre-Inspection of Ladders Training

Who is this course aimed at?

Personnel who are involved in use of ladders, step ladders and podium steps. Low level access and work of short duration. Typically this would include maintenance operatives and fitters, systems fitters, electricians and installation workers.

Course Content:

  • Current legislation relating to working at height, in particular use of ladders
  • How to inspect ladders
  • Identify faults 
  • Record faults
  • How to erect a ladder
  • How to secure a ladder

Aims and Objectives of the course:

Attendees should complete the service with an understanding of the current legislation relating to employer and employees responsibilities and the safe use and inspection of ladders and step ladders. 
Be able to compile and complete ladder inspection records, tags and registers to meet legal requirements.

Method: 

Lecture, theory assessment, practical training and assessments.

Duration:

 ½ Day

Achievement: 

A certificate of training in the safe use and pre use checks of Ladders and step ladders

Delegate experience:

A working knowledge of ladders would be an advantage but is not essential. All delegates MUST be physically fit and able to carry out any practical during the service.

PPE required: 

Protective footwear, suitable head protection, suitable clothing and gloves for the practical session.
