We are looking to recruit an Engineering Instructor for our engineering workshop in Rochdale.

Full Vacancy Description:

To teach and assess learners in the workplace and the centre, guide them through their chosen programme and integrate functional skills, knowledge and behaviours for the standard to ensure they complete their apprenticeship. To help develop skills, knowledge and behaviours on their chosen programme.

Key Tasks:

  • To liaise with companies regarding their Apprenticeship requirements and Apprentices’ training needs
  • To liaise with workshop instructors regarding the apprentice’s off-the-job training
  • Ensure learners fully understand the assessment process, timescales, and deadlines
  • Hold workshops and offer the facility and support for learners who request other learning opportunities relevant to their workplace and qualification
  • Complete the learner’s training plan and continually update
  • Agree with candidates’ appropriate methods for collecting evidence
  • Set and agree on assessment plans – evidence collection integrating/delivering functional skills where appropriate and agreeing time scales
  • Assist in portfolio building through One File. Ensuring the systems are fully updated
  • Assess practical skills through observations
  • Assess knowledge and understanding
  • Carry out progress reviews with learners and employers
  • To liaise with employers regarding the progress of the apprenticeship on all aspects of the framework
  • Continually monitor and evaluate the apprenticeship programme and delivery to improve systems, timely achievement, and service
  • Undertake roles and responsibilities to meet and maintain quality standards
  • Keep all records up to date and maintain confidentiality

Hours Per Week:

8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Thursday 

8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Fridays

*Part-time considered*

Qualification and Experience:

Applicant to ideally have;

  • An Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Occupational competence in Engineering – particularly in the machining/maintenance area.
  • Good communication skills at all levels
  • Experience in working with young people/adults
