Engineering Fitter Apprentice - KEN MILLS ENGINEERING LTD

Summary

As a fitter, you'll install components, major equipment, and machinery This will involve detailed and precise alignment techniques with minimum tolerance to demonstrate a successful build. You will be trained to assemble, install and maintain complex machinery, learn to read engineering drawings, and to use a wide range of tools.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting colleagues with product machining and assembly and testing.
  • Work enthusiastically to accept the necessary training required in all areas.
  • Producing components using a range of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines and grinding. All manual machines.
  • To gain familiarity with the range of company products and processes
  • To work safely at all times, following all company safety rules and maintaining a tidy work area.The wearing of appropriate PPE at all times is essential.

On qualifying the position will include servicing and repairing clients’ equipment, from heavy plant machinery to other general mechanical work. Working on site and on occasion as required off site at customer premises, located worldwide.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE English (Grade Grade 3 or above) essential
  • GCSE Maths (Grade Grade 4 or above) essential
