IPAF POWERED ACCESS LICENCE (PAL) TRAINING FOR OPERATORS & IPAF/PAL CARD
Who is this course aimed at?
Operatives who are responsible for the use and maintenance of Elevated Working Platforms, and on-site or maintenance workers. This course would also suit managers, charge hands and supervisors who also manage Mobile Elevated Work Platform equipment use.

- MEWP Categories and structural parts
- Familiarisation and pre-use inspections
- Safe operating methods & hazards
Aims and Objectives of the course:
To instruct an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operators Licence.
At the end of the course the operator will:
- Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety regulations and accident prevention and control.
- Be aware of the needs regarding personnel protection.
- Be aware of the need to refer to the machine Operating Manual.
- Drive the MEWP safely and manoeuvre and correctly position the machine as required
Method:
Lecture, mixed media with a CD Handout, hands on components, and theory assessment
Delegates MUST achieve 80% in the theory test before being allowed to attempt the practical. 75% is required for the practical assessment.

Achievement:
A 5 year IPAF card, certificate, guide book and log book
Delegate experience:
A working knowledge of MEWPs would be beneficial but is not essential. As the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health. Delegates MUST be over 18 years old.
PPE required:
Protective footwear, suitable head protection, clothing and gloves. Full body harness and restraint lanyard.
