This Apprenticeship is a brilliant way to gain new practical and professional skills, on-the-job training, nationally recognised qualifications and earn money at the same time. This Apprenticeship course is also available to those who are employed and want to upskill in the workplace.
Course Overview:
An Operations or Departmental Manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieves operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisation’s strategy. They are accountable to a more senior manager or a business owner. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same. Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring.
What You Will Learn:
- Project management techniques and tools.
- Operational management approaches and models, including creating plans to deliver objectives and setting KPIs.
- Understand business development tools (eg SWOT), and approaches to continuous improvement.
- Operational business planning techniques, including how to manage resources, development of sales and marketing plans, setting targets and monitoring performance.
- Different leadership styles, how to lead multiple and remote teams and manage team leaders.
- Know how to motivate and improve performance, supporting people using coaching and mentoring approaches.
The Training Will Include:
- Face-to-face and/or remote workshops together with online learning
- 1:1 support from a Tutor who will visit your workplace
- Progress reviews are to be completed with your Tutor and line manager
- Development of a work-based portfolio to evidence learning
- End-point assessment (EPA)
- Functional Skills English and/or maths Level 1 and/or Level 2, if required
Entry Requirements:
The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade 4 or higher.
In order to complete the apprenticeship, you will need English and maths at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE grade 9-4), but if you don’t have these qualifications don’t let this stop you from undertaking the apprenticeship as we can help you gain the Level 2 requirement during your studies.
Duration:
24 months plus 5 months EPA
Professional Membership:
On completion, apprentices can register as full members with the Chartered management institute and/or the Institute of leadership and management, and those with 3 years of management experience can apply for Chartered manager status through the CMI.
