Summary
An opportunity to join Fusion Care Group as a Residential Support Worker Apprentice in Oldham. You will provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people in a residential setting while completing your Level 4 Children and Young People’s Workforce qualification.

£15,704.00 a year

Training course
Children, Young People and Families Practitioner – Level 4
Hours
Shift-based rota including:
- Early shifts
- Late shifts
- Weekends
- Sleep-in duties
40 hours per week (plus sleep-ins as required).

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The Residential Support Worker Apprentice is responsible for providing high-quality day-to-day care and support to children and young people living in a residential home.
This role requires a compassionate, resilient individual who can support children with emotional and behavioural needs, promote positive outcomes and help maintain a safe, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people
- Build positive, professional relationships with children and colleagues
- Support children with daily routines, education and structured activities
- Promote independence and life skills development
- Manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support techniques
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
- Maintain accurate care records, logs and incident reports
- Contribute to care planning and review meetings
- Work as part of a team to create a safe, stable and nurturing environment
You will be supported by experienced staff and managers while developing the knowledge and skills required to work confidently within children’s residential care.

The successful candidate will complete the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 4 qualification.
Training will include:
- Structured training sessions and workplace assessment with Rochdale Training
- Development of safeguarding, child development and trauma-informed practice knowledge
- Behaviour management and professional practice training
- Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required)

Requirements
Essential qualifications
- GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (preferred)
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (desirable)
- Willingness to complete Level 4 Children and Young People qualification
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Skills
- Experience working with children or young people (residential, care or similar setting)
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour appropriately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Emotional resilience
