Job overview
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant and Early Years Tutor/Assessor to plan and deliver high-quality apprenticeship training across the Teaching Assistant Standard and Early Years Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship Standards.
You will embed English and Maths throughout delivery, provide pastoral support to learners and build strong working relationships with employers to support curriculum development.
Responsibilities
- Complete robust initial assessments to identify each learner’s starting point and provide appropriate advice and guidance.
- Deliver comprehensive learner inductions covering assessment requirements, End-Point Assessment, quality assurance, equality and diversity, and health and safety.
- Ensure learners understand the assessment process, timescales and deadlines.
- Develop and regularly update schemes of work, lesson plans, learning resources and off-the-job training activities.
- Deliver group workshops and one-to-one training where required.
- Produce individualised training plans in partnership with learners and employers.
- Record monthly learner activity accurately on OneFile.
- Set and agree assessment plans, evidence requirements and suitable timescales.
- Teach and assess learners’ knowledge, skills and behaviours using appropriate assessment methods.
- Embed and deliver Functional Skills where appropriate.
- Support the coordination of learner examinations.
- Prepare learners for End-Point Assessment through regular support and mock assessments.
- Take ownership of an allocated caseload and report any concerns promptly to allow early intervention.
- Develop, implement and review intervention plans to support retention and timely progression to EPA Gateway.
- Provide effective careers information, advice and guidance throughout the learner journey.
- Conduct exit interviews and track learner destinations for up to six months after completion.
- Complete ten-weekly reviews with learners and employers, either in person or remotely.
- Respond to feedback from internal quality assurers and external agencies to support curriculum development.
- Maintain up-to-date continuing professional development.
- Attend at least two standardisation meetings each year for every qualification delivered.
- Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure documentation meets internal requirements and funding rules.
- Maintain accurate and confidential learner records.
- Promote equality and diversity, safeguarding, British Values, online safety, and mental health and wellbeing.
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- Assessor qualification or equivalent.
- Teaching qualification or equivalent.
- Occupational competence in the qualifications being assessed.
- A minimum Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, within the relevant sector.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills.
- Experience working with apprenticeship standards.
- Knowledge and experience of teaching, learning and assessment processes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Experience working with young people and adults.
- A clear commitment to safeguarding, Prevent and learner welfare.
