We are looking to recruit a Machining Tutor/Assessor for our Engineering Workshop.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To instruct, teach and assess learners who are completing machining units/apprenticeship standards. This includes both manual and CNC content.

KEY TASKS

  • To train and assess learners in all aspects of machining including milling and turning (both manual and CNC) This will include both practical and classroom sessions.
  • To teach and assess specialist units in Engineering Operations (Knowledge) qualification. This includes Principles of turning and milling, Principles of CNC, safe working practices, communication skills and how to work efficiently and effectively.
  • To complete awarding body documentation
  • To encourage the learners until they are 100% confident in every task which is required
  • To monitor and develop behaviours
  • To promote Equality and Diversity and British Values.
  • To be committed to the safeguarding/prevention and welfare of all learners
  • Maintain and develop innovative training materials and methods.
  • Embed Functional Skills
  • Use the e-portfolio system to contribute to Rochdale Training’s VLE
  • Support the learner in preparation for their EPA.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Engineering Apprenticeship.

Good machining skills and knowledge (manual and CNC) and up-to-date occupational competency.

COMPLEXITY AND CREATIVITY:

To establish and develop a working system for the learners.

To achieve Level 2&3 Standards qualifications successfully. This includes providing extra tasks and exercises where appropriate so the learners can become more confident and knowledgeable whilst working towards their assessment jobs. Develop resources. Embed the delivery of Maths and English skills.

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:

All learners in the Machining department and supervisory duties throughout the workshop.

Maintain plant & machinery where practicable.

  • Monday to Friday
  • Monday-Thursday 08.00-16.30
  • Friday 08.00-15.30
