The Job of a spring maker is to set up the relevant machine and producing the job to the required quality level. Applicants will be trained and supported on the Job, hopefully becoming a new member of the team for the future.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The job of a spring maker is to set up the relevant machine and producing the job to the required quality level.
Selecting the correct: Tooling, Material and heat treatments.
Understanding how the spring operates in application and altering its parameters to perform to the customers requirements.
Learning to read a technical drawing and ensuring the spring meets the stated requirements to the tolerances stated.

Spring Making is not easy, There can be very difficult Jobs, and very difficult days, from my experience there are many more good days than bad. You will have to be able to be honest with yourself, learn from mistakes and come back stronger. For many of our team, Spring Making has provided not just a job but a career, and job stability.
